Company and personal tax

An owner’s company tax and personal tax are one problem seen from two sides. We look after both, at the same table, by the same people.

One view of the whole position

The question of how much salary to draw, whether to declare a dividend before April or to put the money into a pension is really a single question, and the answer depends on the company’s profits, your other income and what you intend to do in the next few years. We look at these together every year, some months before the year end, while there is still time to do something about them.

We prepare and file the corporation tax return, the VAT returns, the payroll and the directors’ self assessment returns, and we send you the payment dates in plain language well before they fall. If HMRC opens an enquiry, the partner who signed off the figures deals with it.

We also advise on the larger, occasional questions: research and development claims that will stand up, buying a property through a company or outside it, and bringing a family member into the shareholding. We do not sell or recommend tax schemes, and we will gently advise you to leave one if you have been sold it.
